What are the symptoms of rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by redness in the center of the face (cheeks, nose, and chin). It can be diagnosed by the following facial features:

• Skin thickening
• Visible blood vessels (spider veins)
• Inflamed bumps or pus-filled bumps
• Burning or stinging
• Swelling

Rosacea can also cause eye irritation and eyelid swelling, which is called ocular rosacea. Any eye involvement should be evaluated in person by an ophthalmologist (eye doctor).

What can trigger rosacea?

Common rosacea triggers include the following:
• Sun exposure
• Hot or cold weather
• Hot drinks
• Spicy foods
• Alcohol
• Exercise
• Irritation from certain skin care products
• Psychological stressors
• Certain types of medication
• Menopause

Common rosacea treatments for face

Your clinician will determine which (if any) rosacea treatment is medically appropriate for you based on your symptoms and health history. They won’t prescribe oral isotretinoin (Accutane, Amnesteem, Claravis) or offer referrals for laser therapy.

If you're prescribed medication, pick it up at a pharmacy of your choice. Choose Amazon Pharmacy for free delivery and transparent Prime pricing. The cost of your prescribed medication may be covered by health insurance.
