Frequently asked questions

What types of hair loss can be treated through Amazon Clinic?
Your clinician can treat classic male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia), which means you've started losing hair at your temples or the crown of your head.
What hair loss medications can I get through Amazon Clinic?
Your clinician can prescribe an oral medication called finasteride (Propecia). Certain online clinics may also prescribe oral minoxidil.

Please note: This information is for general reference only. Your clinician will review your symptoms and health history to determine which (if any) hair loss treatments are medically appropriate.
What are the possible side effects of different hair loss treatments?
Finasteride is usually well tolerated, but can occasionally have sexual side effects. The sexual side effects include a small risk (<5%) of decreased libido, decreased ejaculatory volume, and erectile dysfunction (ED). These side effects usually go away after stopping the medication.

Minoxidil (Rogaine) is an over-the-counter medication that's usually well tolerated. Rarely, it can irritate the scalp or increase facial hair growth where it's applied.

Camouflaging agents are available over the counter, and are used to reduce the appearance of hair loss. They come in different forms (powders, fibers, sprays) and may cause scalp irritation.
Can Amazon Clinic treat female hair loss?
Not at this time. To determine what's causing hair loss in women, clinicians usually need testing that's not currently available through Amazon Clinic.
What types of visit can I have?
Video visits are available in all 50 states and D.C. Message-only visits are available in 34 states. To see your visit options, first choose your state.
How does Amazon Clinic protect my health information?
